As a boy I had an abundance of energy and lived for sport. By the age of twelve I was competing at county and national level in athletics, cross-country and swimming, as well as being a keen gymnast. Thankfully that drive and affinity with fitness never left me, because now I use it as the basis for a fulfilling career that helps others.
Throughout my twenties I studied and worked in London, becoming a leading personal trainer in the Richmond area. But in 2013 my family and I left city life behind and landed in the Wiltshire countryside, not too far from where I grew up. I now live in Bradford on Avon with my wife Emma and our daughters Tess and Georgina.
Over the years, I've worked with many clients, each with a unique set of aims and abilities – from aspiring athletes training for endurance events to a centenarian seeking to stay mobile, via lots of people simply finding it difficult to motivate themselves but desperate to fit back into the clothes collecting dust in the wardrobe. I pride myself on providing a very personal and completely bespoke service to every single client.
I'm a firm believer that we all get the most out of life when we're feeling comfortable in our own skin. But I get very frustrated that the focus of the fitness industry remains firmly locked on image and aesthetics, exploiting all of our insecurities. I encourage all my clients to stop concentrating on changing their appearance, and ask them instead to focus on the challenge of learning to move properly. Such commitment leaves clients not only with a body functioning immeasurably better, but with the happy side-effect that they look greater than they ever have before.
I'm not into brash sales-speak guarantees of overnight results, because I don't have a magic wand. But I can guarantee that if you work hard with me from the start, then you'll quickly feel and see a marked change in yourself that will make you want to come back for more.
